Seriously, though, that song is already dirty, I’m pretty sure. Every Chistmas for the past four or five years now I’ve gone to my mother’s church’s Christmas Mass and they always sing “Joy to the World.” The thing that always seems weird is that it is, “Joy to the world, the Lord is come,” and not “has come.” “Has come” could mean simply that the Lord has arrived, yay Jesus and such, but “is come” suggests that we should think of the Holy Spirt as a couple of teaspoons of divine semen all racing up Mary’s vaginal cannal with Haploid Jesus leading the pack?
Wikipedia claims that “is come” was gramatically correct in the early 18th centruy when the song was written.

[for what it's worth, "is come" makes perfect grammatical sense in french: "arriver," the verb "to come/arrive," is one of the few that use the helping verb "etre" - "to be" - in the passe compose (past tense). hence, "il est arrive" - "he is come." (this would all make a lot more sense if i could remember how to make the relevant accents appear over those "e"....)]
